Visiting fellow Xiaotong Huang joined the Griffith Asia Institute (GAI) in September 2015. Her major research area is International Relations, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region as well as China’s security environment.

Huang obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees of law from Peking University’s School of International Studies, where she majored in international politics. Huang has a keen interest in studying China’s relationship with its neighbouring countries, mainly countries in the Indo-Pacific region. She has published research papers relating to China’s role in the world and as well as South Asia’s nuclear proliferation.

In addition to her residency at GAI, Huang works for DAGONG Global Credit Rating Corporation, a recognised rating agency which covers all areas of international credit rating, including sovereign rating. Her role in the sovereign rating section is to conduct research and analysis on South Asian domestic and diplomatic policies.
