The Griffith Archive’s latest online exhibition A University of Global Influence tells the Griffith story from the initial Cabinet Decision to establish our university in 1965 – through to the present day. This chronological history of our university is presented in a ‘tour’ format.
The featured images, videos, publications and artefacts are drawn from the Archive’s extensive collection. A University of Global Influence includes footage of speeches by then Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam during our “Ceremony to Commence Teaching” at Nathan Campus in 1975 and an interview with our foundation Vice-Chancellor Professor John Willett discussing our landmark move in establishing partnerships with Chinese universities.
The tour moves across the 1980s through the 1990s and the establishment of the Gold Coast Campus and into 2020 as our current Vice Chancellor and President Carolyn Evans leads commercial agreements to partner in essential parainfluenza research.
