As a Griffith researcher, you can publish open access (OA) in selected journals without paying article processing fees thanks to our Read and Publish agreements. These agreements accelerate the transition to OA by bringing journal subscription and OA publishing fees together into a single agreement managed by the Library.

And, in a significant development, our agreement with Elsevier has recently been expanded. Previously limited to 235 titles, the agreement now includes all 1,649 hybrid journal titles. When publishing in these hybrid journals, your research can reach a wider audience, and the cost of publishing OA is covered under the terms of the agreement.

What do researchers need to know?

To take advantage of these agreements, authors must use their institutional email address when submitting their manuscript for publication. You must also read and follow the Information for Authors on the web page.

Importantly:

  • A national, annual publishing cap applies. We don’t currently expect the cap to be exceeded this year, but this may change.
  • Some titles are excluded from the agreement. View the entire list of Elsevier journal titles before submitting your manuscript.
  • Page and colour printing charges may also apply. These are not covered in the agreement.

Explore these agreements further on the Read & Publish web page.
