There’s a study space for every personality
Which Study Personality Are You?
Spend a day in one of our libraries and you’ll quickly notice there’s no single “right” way to study. Whether you’re an early bird, a night owl, a group-work enthusiast or someone who simply needs a quiet place to focus, our library spaces support every study style.
Which one sounds most like you?
The Early Bird
She’s on campus before most alarms have gone off. After topping up her coffee at the Zip tap, she heads straight for a favourite spot in the quiet study area. Her laptop connects to the Wi-Fi automatically, her headphones go in and the Pomodoro timer starts ticking.
She’s armed with colour-coded notes, pastel highlighters and a stack of study cards. Fuelled by overnight oats and determination, she works her way through lectures and readings before taking a well-earned lunchtime walk. By the time afternoon classes begin, she’s already had a productive day.
The Collaborative Learner
After a busy morning at work, he arrives on campus ready to tackle a group assessment. First stop: food. A quick visit to the Flying Turtle machine for a matcha protein shake, the vending machine for a lasagne which he heats in the microwaves, then it’s off to meet his teammates in a group study pod.
There’s discussion, brainstorming and a few debates about who is taking on which task. When he can’t get connected to the Wi-Fi, a quick visit to the Library Help Desk gets him sorted and back into the project, and while he’s there, he asks them for some guidance on how to find peer-reviewed articles.
The Focus Seeker
Home isn’t always the ideal study environment. Between noisy housemates, visitors and distractions, sometimes all they need is a calm place to concentrate.
They settle into the sensory-friendly space, adjust a sit-stand desk to the perfect height and set the lighting exactly how they like it. A water bottle, a fidget tool and a virtual body-doubling study buddy help them stay on track. A few focused hours later, they’ve made serious progress on the assignment that felt impossible that morning.
The Night Owl
When most students are packing up for the day, he’s just getting started. After dark, he swipes into the Library using his 24/7 study access, heats up dinner and settles in for an evening of study.
His favourite spot is near a whiteboard, where he can draw the formulas he’s struggling to remember and use the colourful markers he brought with him to jog his memory. With the Library a little quieter and plenty of space to spread out, he’s able to focus on finishing the week’s module before heading home.
No matter your study style, our libraries have spaces designed to help you succeed. Between silent zones, sensory-friendly spaces, couches and pods, group study areas, chill-out zones, whiteboards, kitchenettes and 24/7 study access, the Library has created a space for everyone to study their way.
