Break time: sleep, eat cake and enjoy your time off

Woo-hoo, it’s vacation time! 🎉
Finally—a chance to pause, breathe and not think about that assignment you swore you’d start tomorrow.

But also… let’s be honest.
Free time can come with a tiny side of guilt.

So, here’s your official reminder, you’re allowed to stop!

And yes, that includes the simplest kind of breaks.

😴 Sleep (yes, even that kind of break counts)
You know the one…
“I’ll just lie down for 10 minutes—suddenly it’s evening.

Honestly? That might be exactly what you needed. Whether it’s a proper night’s sleep or an accidental nap, rest is how your brain resets. You’re not being lazy, you’re recharging.

🍰 Eat the cake
No overthinking. No “I shouldn’t”.
Breaks are meant to feel good.

Whether it’s cake, coffee or a random snack run, those small moments matter. And sometimes, a cupcake does more for your wellbeing than a productivity hack ever will.

📱 Do nothing (on purpose)
Scrolling, watching an episode, laying down and staring at clouds in the sky… it all counts.

The trick? Own it.
If you’re resting, actually rest. Doing nothing isn’t wasted time, it’s a reset button.

🌿 Balance the break (just a little)
This is your time to relax but if you feel up to it, you can also gently reset for next trimester:

  • Reflect on what worked (and what didn’t)
  • Set a couple of simple goals for T2
  • Keep a loose plan so your days don’t disappear completely
  • Look after yourself and eat well, move a bit and sleep properly.

Nothing intense. Just enough to relax and settle your mind.

 The real goal
Come back feeling like a human again.

Breaks aren’t about escaping study forever, they’re about making it sustainable. When you rest properly, everything gets easier: focus, energy, motivation and even your mood.

To sum up:
Take the nap.
Eat the cake.
Do absolutely nothing for a while.

Because sometimes the most productive thing you can do… is enjoy your break.
