From climate resilience to comic books: Discover Griffith’s creative research

Griffith’s Creative Works repository continues to grow, showcasing the breadth and diversity of creative and practice-led research across the university.  

Recent additions include: 

Animation’s Material Past, a series of three digital artworks by Dr Steven Mohr, exhibited in Previous Owner 2025 at the University of Southern Queensland. It explores the material history of animation using 3D modelling and photorealistic texturing techniques. The works reconstruct artefacts from key stages in animation’s development. 

The Soldier Legacy, a comic book series by Dr Paul Mason centred on an Australian soldier in World War II and his grandson in present-day suburban Brisbane. It applies popular comic book writing and visual storytelling methods to Australian characters and stories. 

Lake of Spaces, a project by Associate Professor Tim Munro comprising six original compositions. It integrates improvisation into classical performance, culminating in a performance marking the finale of the BLEACH* 2024 festival on North Burleigh Beach. 

Pickle Party, a multidisciplinary production at The Esplanade: Theatres on the Bay in Singapore. Set within a version of Dr Tanja Beer’s Living Stage concept, it explores the intersection of human stories, acts of care and the climate crisis through live performance and community pickling.
