The Library is part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower community

Did you know the majority of our Library staff, including all of our Library service desks team, have completed the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower training?

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower supports people with non-visible or ‘hidden’ disabilities. The program is a globally recognised symbol that people can choose to wear to quietly indicate they may need a little extra time, understanding or support in public spaces such as shops, public transport—and, of course, libraries.

The initiative covers a wide range of conditions—including cognitive, sensory and situational needs—many of which are not immediately apparent.

What does that mean for the Griffith community?

Library staff are now trained in respectful ways to offer help and are better equipped to respond with patience, discretion and confidence when a member of the Griffith community signals that they need assistance.

This will create a more welcoming and accessible environment for all of us.

If you or someone you care for uses the Sunflower or has access needs, please let us know—we’re here to help!
