A diamond in the rough—polish your writing and referencing

Have you spent weeks writing and gathering every reference for your assignment? Now, it’s time to transform that rough draft into a diamond that sparkles with clarity and consistency.

Transform your writing

  1. Drafting and editing – Check your Assignment type to ensure you’re fulfilling the criteria.
  2. Academic tone – be formal, objective, concise and cautious.
  3. Assignment structure – establish clarity, coherence and logical flow
  4. Proofread – find errors by changing the font size and listening to text-to-speech technology. Take advantage of the Review tab of Microsoft Word to check grammar, punctuation and sentence structure.
  5. Feedback – consider reaching out to the Study Skills Peers or your classmates.

Polish your referencing

  1. Confirm your references are following the required Referencing style.
  2. In-text citation versus Reference list – know the difference.
  3. For health-related assignments, refer to the Griffith Health Writing and Referencing Guide.
  4. Ask for help from the library if you’re having difficulty identifying a resource or finding citation information.
  5. Upload a draft to Turnitin via Canvas and check your plagiarism score (Similarity Report).
