Working in a group is a great way to connect with classmates, share ideas and build teamwork skills for both uni and your future career. These simple steps can help your group get off to a great start:

Choose how you’ll communicate

Will you meet in person, online or a mix of both? Some popular options include:

Set up a meeting schedule early, include simple agendas and choose someone to take notes so decisions and next steps are recorded.

Use the right tools

Griffith students have free access to Microsoft 365, including both Teams and OneDrive, which makes sharing files and co-authoring documents easy. If you’re new to these tools, have a look at our training resources

Understand the task and plan your timeline

Go through the assessment together, break it into smaller tasks and assign roles. Agree on realistic deadlines so the group can stay organised.

Prevent and manage conflict

Set ground rules at the first meeting: attendance, fair contribution and respectful behaviour all matter. Listen actively during discussions and make room for all voices. If a problem can’t be resolved within the group, contact your tutor or lecturer.
