Griffith’s Creative Works repository continues to grow with compelling new additions. One standout is the acclaimed portrait Flagship Mother Multiverse (Justene), winner of the 2025 Archibald Prize, by Associate Professor Julie Fragar. The winning work is a portrait depicting fellow artist and Griffith colleague, Justene Williams. A four-time Archibald finalist, Julie has become just the 13th woman to be awarded the prestigious prize.

This latest piece is part of her ongoing study of the human experience through the medium of painting. In it, she portrays her subject’s connection to both her creative outputs and her daughter. The work engages with the rich tradition of Australian portraiture, while also exploring Julie’s longstanding interest in the relationship between painting, photography and digital media.
