With the holidays approaching, it’s the perfect time start planning how you will make the most of your break. Use this time wisely to return to campus refreshed and ready for the new year.
Find the right balance between relaxation and productivity with these tips.
Reflect and set goals
Reflect on this year: What went well? What could be improved? Celebrate your achievements and set personal and academic goals for the year ahead.
In 2025, will you:
- establish a study routine?
- manage your time better to balance study, work and personal life?
- eat healthier by reducing junk food?
- practise mindfulness or meditation to manage stress?
Your goals are personal and should be relevant to your aspirations.
Plan ahead
Create a holiday schedule that balances rest, fun and productive activities. Use a planner to organise your time, including family, friends and self-care.
Catch up on your studies
Use the holiday to review notes and course materials. Summarise readings in your own words or work through practice problems and past exams.
Stay active and healthy
During the holidays, it can be easy to overindulge. Look after yourself by:
- maintaining a healthy diet, even if you do indulge in a few treats
- staying active with sport, walks, fitness classes or yoga
- getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
Enjoy some leisure time
Relaxation and joy are important for a healthy mindset. Enjoy activities like reading for pleasure, listening to music or podcasts, or starting a new creative project.
Whether catching up on studies, setting new goals or relaxing, use this time to recharge and prepare for a successful year ahead.
