Patents are a source of innovation, knowledge-sharing and technology transfer. Patents often cite scholarly literature, and if they cite yours, this can help to demonstrate the impact of your research beyond academia. Likewise, if you are a patent holder, you may be curious to see if yours have been cited.

Check out the following databases to easily find this information:

  • PatCite: Upload a list of DOIs or PMIDs to view the patents that cite your research.
  • Scopus: Navigate to the Patents tab.
  • SciVal: Look under Explore > Impact for patent-related metrics.
  • Web of Science: Check your researcher profile for the number of patents citing your work.
  • Incites: Use Citations from patents to explore patent citations.
