Grey literature is a category of information that includes reports, working papers, policy briefs and more. As it is produced outside of traditional academic publishing, it’s usually not preserved for long-term access, and it’s often never published at all.

Griffith Research Online (GRO), Griffith’s institutional repository, ensures that the time, resources and expertise to produce grey literature doesn’t go to waste. GRO provides free, reliable access to a rapidly growing collection of full-text reports and other grey literature authored by Griffith researchers, many of which are the outputs of Griffith’s research centres, institutes and initiatives such as the Griffith Asia Institute and the Climate Action Beacon.

To maximise their impact and value, reports published through GRO receive:

  • a stable, permanent link that ensures long term accessibility and prevents link rot
  • enhanced visibility through search engines like Google
  • data on downloads and page views.

Eligible reports can also get a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This helps to enhance citability and enables Altmetric tracking.
