NAIDOC Week is celebrated from 7 to 14 July this year. NAIDOC Week recognises and celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme is ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud’. In celebration of NAIDOC Week, we invite you to stoke the fire of your curiosity and dig into captivating and inspiring First Nations stories!

The Library has worked with Ren Perkins, a proud Quandamooka man and lecturer in the School of Education and Professional Studies, to develop a curated reading list.  The Library Resources- NAIDOC Week 2024 reading list features works by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors, offering a glimpse into rich cultures, histories, and perspectives.

Dr Kerry Hall researcher, lecturer, Enrolled Nurse and Interim Lead Learning and Teaching (Indigenous) is also holding the Embedding Indigenous Knowledges in Curriculum Symposium. This inspiring event will provide insights into Indigenous culture, truth telling, reconciliation and how we can participate in a more equitable future for all Australians. Griffith staff are more than welcome to come along to the symposium. Please contact Kerry directly at kerry.hall@griffith.edu.au
