We’re not saying that you should take the law into your own hands, however we would recommend getting your hands (and your head) around the new Westlaw Australia database. Westlaw Australia provides access to:

  • case law
  • journals
  • legislation
  • commentary
  • precedents
  • encyclopaedias
  • and news.

This database was developed in partnership with lawyers to offer a unique user experience enhanced by natural language searching for faster interpretation. This means you can view relevant cases, commentary and authorised reports in a single search.

How do I learn more?

To become more familiar with the database, check out these short videos. In a few short minutes, you will learn how to search effectively, navigate the platform and use key features.

If you currently use FirstPoint, we highly recommend you watch this video on Key Numbers. Key Numbers will replace FirstPoint from 1 July 2022.

How do I access the database?

Access the new Westlaw Australia database using the Library’s list of A – Z Databases or in the Law Library guide

For further assistance, contact the Library.
