On 21 April the Nathan Dash 2022 took place. This is a 660 metre sprint through the heart of Nathan campus with competitors running along Johnson Path, starting and finishing outside Café Rossa (Building N76).

The first organised competitive staff/student race held by our University was the ‘Great Griffith Ring Road Race’—held in 1980. As the name suggests, the race was run around the Ring Road (and along other paths) at Nathan campus. 120 competitors took part across male, female, over 30 and under 17 divisions, and only amateur competitors were allowed to run.

The first iteration of the event now known as the Nathan Dash was held in 1989 as the ‘Spine Sprint’. In the 33 years since, the Nathan Dash has attracted players from the Brisbane Broncos, Brisbane Lions and Brisbane Bullets. Olympic swimmers and Australian representative triathletes and runners have also competed.
