Are you commencing a learning and teaching leadership role such as Course Convenor or Program Director?
First of all, congratulations! Secondly, we want you to know that there is support available to help you settle in to your new role.
Course Convenors are invited to attend a half day Course Convenors’ Orientation (G09001) on Wednesday 26 June (Gold Coast campus) or Thursday 27 June (Nathan campus) from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. At the session, you will learn more about the resources, processes and policies available to support you in your new role. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and network with other staff new to this role, as well as experienced Convenors who can offer you invaluable advice and insights.
Program Directors can attend a Program Directors’ Orientation (G08001) designed to support you in beginning this important learning and teaching leadership role. The sessions, on Wednesday 26 June (Gold Coast campus) or Thursday 27 June (Nathan campus) from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm, will include opportunities to learn from and engage with experienced Program Directors. You’ll also meet other educators who are new to the role of Program Director.

Are you new to teaching?
If you are new to teaching, we highly recommend attending Foundations of University Teaching (G05002). This two day workshop is always a very collegial experience, and highly attended. It will give you practical advice and strategies to help you in your new role as an educator. Previous attendees have reported that they felt more confident and empowered in their role as an educator after attending these sessions.
This workshop is also the first step in the Teaching for Learning program, which upon successful completion leads to HEA Associate Fellow (AFHEA) status and professional recognition of your teaching practice. Attendance on both days is important if you are intending to seek Associate Fellowship.

Are you new to Griffith?
If you’re new to Griffith University, the Transition to Griffith (G05001) workshop is one not to miss. It will be held at the Gold Coast campus on Friday 12 July from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm. All new members of staff are welcome to attend this program, featuring a welcome to the University by members from Executive Group. The day long workshop also provides an important opportunity to network with colleagues from around the University.
