The Student Diversity and Inclusion team, in Student Services, have created two new publications to provide staff and students with guidance to promoting inclusion on campus.

  • Words Matter is a guide to inclusive language to improve the way we write, present and depict diversity in our community.
  • Celebrating Diversity is a guide to designing inclusive events for staff, students and visitors to Griffith to ensure everyone enjoys the celebration.

These guides are aimed at both staff and students, so are great resources to share with your teaching team as well as your student cohort. They include references to Griffith policy, relevant legislation and also include recommended or alternative wording to assist in developing online or on-campus presentations and events.

Both of these new publications are available on the Creating Accessible Learning Environments website, which has a plethora of links to other guides, videos, reference websites and professional learning opportunities.

If you would like a printed copy of the Words Matter and Celebrating Diversity publications, please email accessibility@griffith.edu.au.
