If you are using active, collaborative and authentic learning strategies in your teaching, we’d love to know about it!

We encourage you to consider submitting an abstract to be part of the lunchtime poster session during the Teaching Using Engaging and Empowering Pedagogies event, on Tuesday 22 October. This event is set to be one of the highlights of 2019 Celebrating Learning and Teaching Week.

Here’s some of the reasons you might like to consider being part of the session…

1. Share your practice

Preparing an abstract for the poster session is a great way to reflect on the impact of your own practice as an educator, and how you have motivated and inspired students to learn.

Developing your full poster and sharing it with the broader learning and teaching community is an excellent way to show how you are engaging in your own scholarship of learning and teaching, and can be useful evidence (as part of a broader evidence portfolio) to include in potential award or fellowship applications in the future, or as a discussion point during ASCD conversations.

Sharing your practice can also help others enhance their own practice, and reveal synergies that could create opportunities for collaboration. It’s also a useful way to get some collegial feedback and advice, and learn from colleagues who have faced similar teaching challenges.

2. Develop some new skills

The Teaching Using Engaging and Empowering Pedagogies poster competition is the perfect opportunity to learn more about some useful design tools, as well as some basic design principles and concepts.

Developing your skills in these areas can help you make more effective learning and teaching materials and presentations, and make the process of creating these materials all the more enjoyable.

This is your chance to unleash your creativity, express yourself, and have some design FUN!

3. Win some great prizes

In addition to the above benefits, there are also some excellent prizes on offer.

The winner of the ‘panel’s choice’ category will receive $400 prize money, and the second and third prize winners will receive $200 and $100 respectively. The winner of the ‘people’s choice’ category will receive $150, while $100 and $50 is on offer for the second and third placegetters.

You need to be in it to win it, so take a few minutes to submit an abstract and be part of the action! The closing date for abstract submissions is Friday 23 August 2019.
