In February, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Debra Henly, launched the Griffith Citations and Awards for Excellence in Teaching Scheme. The scheme provides a range of opportunities for staff interested in documenting and receiving recognition for their achievements in learning and teaching.

2018 opportunities

Group Learning and Teaching Citations

Group Learning and Teaching Citations are open to current academic staff, including sessional academic staff, and professional staff employed by one of the four Academic Groups. There are 20 Group Learning and Teaching Citations valued at $2,000 each that are awarded annually (5 per Academic Group). Citations may be awarded to individual teachers, teaching teams and programs making significant contributions to student learning.

Awards for Teaching Excellence

The Griffith Awards for Excellence in Teaching are open to all academic and professional staff employed on a 50% or more basis, with the exception of the Sessional Academic Staff Award. In 2018, there are 11 award categories, each with a professional learning grant of $3,000. Further description of the categories and how to demonstrate claims of excellence are detailed in the Guidelines. While nomination is required for teaching excellence categories, nomination is not required for Program Excellence Awards. Nominations for Teaching Excellence Awards are submitted online (by staff only).

Awards for Program Excellence

Up to three awards, each with a professional learning grant of $4,000. Further description of the award areas and how to demonstrate claims of excellence are detailed in the Guidelines.

Griffith Grants for Learning and Teaching 2018

The Griffith Grants for Learning and Teaching, Group Projects Scheme is scheduled to be launched in May. Learning Futures will provide further information about the scheme and resources following the launch in May.
