Kevin Filo has been appointed as a Distinguished Sports Academic Board Member for the Tsinghua University Center for Development of Sports Industry. Kevin accepted his certificate of appointment during the International Sports Industry Forum (ISIF) 2019 hosted by Tsinghua University and the Center for Development of Sports Industry in Beijing, China. Kevin also delivered a keynote presentation entitled ‘Distraction? Enhancement? Both? Mobile technology and the sport event experience’ at ISIF 2019.

ISIF 2019 featured a collection of industry representatives from China including Li Yingchuan, Deputy Director of General Administration of Sport of China and Yang Yang, Chairman of Athletes Committee of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, among others. Representatives from Bayern Munich (Shanghai), Huawei, and IMG were also in attendance. Kevin’s keynote address shed light on a contemporary challenge for sport marketers and event managers that is increasingly relevant to China as the spectator sport industry continues to grow.

The Center for Development of Sports Industry, Tsinghua University aims to creatively carry out cooperative research and serve as an outstanding platform for the sports industry, so as to provide intellectual support for implementing China’s strategy for developing the sports industry and advancing the upgrade of the sports industry and the growth of companies in the industry. As a Distinguished Academic Board Member, Kevin will work to assist the Center to broaden the understanding of the sport industry at the international level. Kevin was appointed alongside: Professor Munehiko Harada (Waseda University), Dr Adam Karg (Swinburne University), and Associate Professor Martin Carlsson-Wall (Stockholm School of Economics).
