Due to ongoing international travel restrictions, Griffith has made some adjustments to its approach to HDR scholarship selection this year. The traditional Annual Scholarship Round has now been renamed as the Continuous Scholarship Round.

The key updates include:

  • A closing date of 28 September 2021 will apply for scholarship applicants wishing to commence in Trimester 1 2022.
  • Temporary restrictions are in place for offshore International applicants, who can only be considered for scholarship if they are able to commence now (commencement in their home country as ‘study away’, or are likely to be eligible for a travel exemption). Applicants are asked to liaise with their proposed supervisor for advice on the options to commence now.
  • Onshore international applicants who are enrolled in their final semester/trimester of study at an Australian institution can apply for PhD admission and scholarship now as assessment will be based on interim grades. Successful applicants will be made a scholarship offer conditional on completion of the degree. They will then need to provide evidence of required grades and award of qualification by 31 January 2022.
  • Offshore international applicants with deferred scholarship offers to Trimester 2 2021 will soon be invited to apply for a further deferral to Trimester 1 2022, to be considered on a case-by-case basis.
