Congratulations to Griffith Alumni Swietenia Puspa Lestari, who has been selected as an Outstanding Alumni Award recipient for the Australian Global Alumni awards. Marine environmentalist Swietenia has witnessed the devastating impact of waste on marine life off the northern coast of Jakarta, where she grew up and fell in love with the ocean.
The increasing marine waste became Swietenia’s motivation, and she therefore became the Founder and Executive Director at Divers Clean Action (DCA).
During her studies at Griffith University, she was awarded the Australia Awards Short course scholarship program, entitled the “Tackling Marine Pollution Issues through Recycling” in 2019.
