From 1 January 2023, all higher education students studying onshore in Australia must create a Unique Student Identifier (USI) in order to be conferred their degree – this applies to all coursework, research and non-award studies.
Commencing and returning international students must land in Australia and clear customs before they can create a USI using their non-Australian passport and visa as a form of ID.
