The third intake for 2022 at Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) will coincide with the commencement of Trimester 1 at Griffith University, and we are delighted to be welcoming many students onshore, while others will arrive in the coming weeks as visas are granted.

GELI class placement is organised so that students can arrive at any time and join face-to-face on campus at the Gold Coast or at Nathan the next day.

Students from 11 countries studying in Australia and offshore recently successfully completed the Direct Entry Program (DEP) at GELI to achieve entry into their Griffith University or Griffith College program for Trimester 1.

Griffith International acknowledges excellent performance in DEP by awarding a $1000 Direct Entry Program (DEP) Scholarship to the highest performing DEP student in each cohort who is progressing to a Griffith undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.

DEP Scholarship Winners

Congratulations to the following DEP Scholarship winners transitioning to Griffith University degrees:

  • Shum Chung Ki Angel, Hong Kong, Master of Education
  • Roberta Cardoso De Souza, Brazil, Master of Architecture

Shum Chung Ki Angel

Angel joined the Direct Entry Program for 10 weeks from her home in Hong Kong to achieve the English requirement for entry to Griffith’s Master of Education. Throughout the course, Angel displayed a very high level of conscientiousness and commitment to her studies, and also took the time to assist her classmates. She was enthusiastic, highly organised and always put in one hundred per cent effort to ensure she completed all classwork on time, achieving the highest overall grade for her DEP cohort.

Roberta Cardoso De Souza

Roberta studied at GELI onshore for 10 weeks. She is a keen and motivated learner who excelled in all areas and worked collaboratively with her classmates, playing a key role in building rapport in a class comprising onshore and offshore students. Roberta’s success is due to the effort and dedication she places on her academic studies, as well as her positive approach to the changes that occurred during her studies in the current context.

Dux of DEP Winner

Congratulations also go to Yeji Kim from Korea for achieving the highest overall grade in her DEP cohort. Yeji studied for 10 weeks through GELI’s virtual classroom on a pathway to the Diploma of Health Care at Griffith College.
