It’s the start of another trimester at Griffith University, and the Griffith Mates have a renewed passion for welcoming commencing international students for T1, 2024. With a range of activities underway, the Mates are a vibrant team of current Australian and international students from across the world. The team welcomes thousands of international students each year, helping them adjust to university life in Australia, and regularly host exciting activities..

Airport Arrivals

The Griffith Mates kicked off their year by heading to Brisbane Airport to wait for some of their fellow students to land on Australian soil. There were smiling friends here to greet them on arrival and ease their nerves as they were collected to be taken to their accommodation.

A lot of our Mates have previously made this journey themselves, so they’re very familiar with both the feelings of anticipation their new friends might be experiencing, and the jet-lag that follows international travel.

Aden, who’s just arrived from Canada shared what he’s most excited about.

“What I’m looking forward to mostly doing here in Australia is obviously making friends,” he said. “This is totally new for me. I want to meet lots of people, make lots of connections and obviously I want to go see the beach. It’s right there.

We look forward to seeing our MATES in action at the following events during the trimester.

  • Griffith Mates Welcome Booth during O’Week
  • Twilight Tour (Gold Coast and Brisbane)
  • International Student Buddy Program
  • Study Abroad & Exchange Mixer
  • Surf & SUP Lessons
  • Bush Care (Brisbane)
  • World Fair
  • Park Care (Gold Coast)
  • International Night

Thanks Griffith Mates!
