Over the past 2 years, student visa applicants have experienced delays in obtaining health appointments, biometrics collection, IELTS and AFP checks due to COVID-19.

During these delays, the Department has been flexible in providing considerable extensions where required for applicants to obtain the necessary information.

With many of these services now returning to pre-COVID-19 time frames, Griffith has been advised that the Department is progressively moving back to a tighter time frame for responding to requests for information.  Please also note that if requests for information are not actioned, or if the student visa applicant has not requested an extension of time, the Department may decide the visa application on the basis of the information already provided.

If a visa applicant is experiencing delays in obtaining required information, visa applicants can make contact with the Department via ImmiAccount, requesting an extension of time and providing evidence of what steps have been taken to obtain the required information, such as a payment receipt or booking confirmation.
