Orientation Week for Trimester 1 has recently taken place, and throughout the week the Griffith Mates completed 327 volunteer hours both online and on-campus. Campus tours were particularly popular with more than 200 students taking part across the week.

A highlight for the Mates was the large number of students participating in Clean Up Australia Day as part of our community service initiatives. On the Gold Coast, students were hosted by the Gold Coast City Council for dune planting. Coastal dunes provide important ecological benefits for a clean and healthy beach. Griffith University students planted 100 dunes on the day!

Up at Brisbane, the Nathan campus is surrounded by the Toohey Forest, home to a vast array of flora and fauna, including eucalyptus trees and koalas. The Griffith Mates helped clean up the forest by collecting rubbish and removing weeds. The early wake up call on Sunday morning was well worth it!

All in all, a very successful Orientation Week to mark the start of the 2021 academic year.
