Griffith Film School has been formally invited to become an associated partner with the consortium FILMEU, an application submitted under the European Universities EU call for proposals.

As part of this collaborative partnership, students will have the opportunity to travel to the Summer School program of the Consortium in Europe while students of EU partner schools will be invited to the winter program hosted by Griffith. As part of this program, students will experience the Outback Filming Bootcamp run in Winton where they collaborate on making a film and screen films as part of the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival. Students can be awarded course credits as part of their participation*.

The European Universities program is a new program under the Erasmus+ framework of funding. This program invites alliances of European Higher Education Institutions to develop new and innovative ways of collaborating in educational and research terms in order to develop the European Higher Education area and increase European social, economic and cultural development.

FILMEU brings together six European Higher Education Institutions:

  • Lusófona University from Lisbon, Portugal
  • SZFE- University of Theatre and Film from Budapest, Hungary
  • Aalto University from Helsinki, Finland
  • LUCA/Leuven University from Brussels/Genk, Belgium
  • IADT – Institute of Art, Design, Technology, from Dublin, Ireland
  • BFM/Tallinn University from Tallinn, Estonia.

The common objective is to promote high level Film and Media Arts education and research activities in a joint manner to bridge existing gaps in the areas of the creative and cultural industries. Fundamentally, the program aims to consolidate the central role of Europe as a world leader in the creative fields.

The consortium integrates six institutions with strong expertise in Film and Media Arts education, a common internationalisation ambition and a long track record of past collaborations. These include more than fifteen years of expertise in the development of European joint master degrees and the promotion of the European Higher Education Area. These six institutions together currently manage all of the existing European Joint Master degrees Erasmus Mundus programs in the area of Film and Media Arts.

Griffith is the only non-European partner, invited to join in.
