Griffith Mates 2020 team for Trimester 1, 2020 includes 118 student leaders, from 32 countries, speaking 33 languages, studying in diverse programs, across 4 campuses.

Griffith International’s Student Experience team recently hosted the Griffith Mates 2020 Leadership Symposium at Griffith’s Gold Coast campus. The Symposium’s aim was to provide space for aspirational thinking and further explore the role of student volunteers and the program in 2020. The day included:

  • Participation by over 70 new and returning Griffith Mates
  • New Griffith Mates received their uniforms (polo shirt and hoodie) and all attendees received a Griffith Mates goodie bag, which included a Griffith Mates cap
  • The tone was set for the year by Professor Sarah Todd, Vice President (Global)
  • Griffith International’s Marketing team spoke about the Explore Blog and opportunities for students to contribute
  • The team discussed and reflected on inspirational leadership, soft-skills and personal branding
  • 12 teams came up with creative “design-thinking” solutions to assigned challenges during the afternoon “Ideathon” session.

The entire team was pleased to facilitate a day of peer-networking, personal development and leadership activity and looks forward to finding new ways to support international student engagement and English language development in the year ahead.
