On the 17 October 2024, Griffith Asia Institute’s Perspectives:Asia lecture, co-hosted by the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art (QAGoMA) hosted an insightful panel discussion exploring Brisbane’s legacy strategy for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Moderated by Dr Caroline Riot, Director of Games Partnerships and Engagement at Griffith University, the event brought together a diverse panel of experts to discuss how Australia can deepen its connections with the Asia-Pacific region, especially Oceania, through sport, strategic partnerships, and cultural exchange.

The speakers, including Queensland Trade Commissioner for the Pacific Leata Alaimoana, Brisbane 2032 Chief Impact Officer Kerry Petersen, and athletes Adrine Monagi and Georgia-Leigh Vele, shared their perspectives on the importance of regional collaboration. They highlighted the role of athletes, universities, and government in fostering lasting partnerships and creating meaningful legacies beyond the 2032 Games.
