Griffith Global Mobility is offering 7 x $8000 New Colombo Plan Student Mobility Grants to eligible students to complete a semester of study in China (Beijing) alongside a prestigious internship with the Peking University Australian Studies Centre!

These 7 x $8000 grants are only available to students who undertake a semester of study in Beijing during semester 2, 2016 or trimester 1 or 2, 2017. Alongside the exchange studies, each student must complete a part-time internship with the Peking University Australian Studies Centre (PKUASC) for the duration of their exchange. Interns commit to two days research on a topic that addresses any aspect of the Australia-China relationship and the other day they commit to Centre related activities.

To apply students must be eligible to participate in the Griffith Exchange Program, be Australian Citizens, and must complete the exchange application process by the usual application deadlines. As part of the application for exchange, and to be considered for this grant, students must submit as a part of their exchange application an extended statement of motivation that addresses the following selection criteria:

  1. Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of an aspect of Australia-China relations;
  2. Ability to conduct research independently and work with academics and other interns on ad-hoc projects;
  3. Reliable organisational skills;
  4. Excellent English language competency; and,
  5. Chinese language ability not necessary but an advantage.

Students who are accepted into the Griffith Exchange Program, to study at a partner university in Beijing, express interest in this program by completing the extended statement of motivation, and meet the selection criteria and eligibility for the NCP grant will then be nominated by Global Mobility to PKUASC. Students will also be asked to write a formal Cover Letter and to submit their CV. Final acceptance and payment of the grant will be dependent on acceptance by the overseas Beijing host university and by PKUASC.
