Do you want to increase your understanding of Chinese culture?

Program Aims: As part of Griffith’s Asian Century Futures Initiative, Griffith University and Peking University have established the Asia Futures Fellows Program for undergraduates. This program aims to enhance opportunities for Griffith and Peking University students to enrich their studies, experience a different culture and make personal and future professional connections while making a difference in their community through volunteering. Students have the opportunity to undertake the program as a free choice 10CP elective. Students wanting to apply for credit for their participation in the Asia Future Fellows Program should in the first instance contact Natasha Vary (details below).

The Program: Twenty Asia Futures Fellow positions are available, with 10 from Griffith and 10 from Peking University. All Asia Futures Fellows will participate in 2 x one week program held in Brisbane (July) and Beijing (November). The programs will incorporate a range of activities, including seminars, government and industry briefings. One of the core components and highlight of the program is increasing students’ level of knowledge of Chinese culture by working with a charitable cause in Beijing.

As a condition of participation, students will be required to fund raise for a charitable cause in Beijing and to form groups (consisting of 2 Griffith and 2 Peking University students) to write a paper on a topic of your choosing. These papers will be presented at the November program in Beijing.

How to Apply: Write a 600 word thought piece on your views of the Australia–China relationship and email this, along with your CV to: [email protected]. Further information click here

Sponsorship: The fellowship will cover return flights, transfers, accommodation, travel insurance and meals associated with the Brisbane and Beijing program. Students will be responsible for their visa application and fee, tourist activities expenses and some meals.
